On September 3, 2025, the 52nd Magento Stammtisch Rhein-Main took place at Comwrap Reply in Frankfurt am Main. There were two exciting presentations, stimulating discussions, and relaxed networking.
Even before the official start, the atmosphere was lively. Over delicious pizza and cold drinks, people were already deep in discussion about the latest trends and challenges in the e-commerce world. Comwrap Reply proved to be an excellent host, creating an atmosphere in which all participants immediately felt at home.
The evening offered two presentations that provided plenty to talk about:
Universal Editor vs. Document Authoring vs. Google Drive: A Comparison from a Developer's Perspective
Artem Kozynets, Front-end Architect at Comwrap Reply, opened the evening with a very objective and well-founded comparison of different approaches to content creation. He examined the advantages and disadvantages of the Universal Editor, Document Authoring, and creating content through Google Drive. He went into detail about how each method affects developers and content managers – from conceptual design and commerce integration to efficiency and collaboration.

The idea of maintaining content through documents in particular sparked a controversial but very fruitful discussion. Whether the target audience for such an approach actually exists was hotly debated. Artem did an excellent job of presenting the different perspectives from a developer's point of view without making a final judgment.
A Component Library for Deutsche Bahn: A Report from Practice
In the second presentation of the evening, Odilo Oehmichen provided a fascinating insight into the development of a central component library for Deutsche Bahn's (internal) e-commerce platform. In the context of Adobe Commerce and the DB group's strict requirements, this was a particular challenge. He also offered a look at Adobe Commerce PaaS deployment. One major challenge at Deutsche Bahn is that data sovereignty must always remain on its own servers.

Odilo described the obstacles his team had to overcome and the solutions that have proven effective in practice. He showed how the concept of a central library of Composer packages affects working with multiple shops and how quality assurance and test environments were set up in such a complex environment. He also gave an insight into how Deutsche Bahn uses Renovate to automate dependency updates. Here too, it became clear that many agencies face similar challenges and have established similar quality assurance processes.
The 52nd Magento Stammtisch Rhein-Main was once again proof of how lively and committed the Magento community is.
A big thank you to Comwrap Reply for their hospitality and to both speakers for their exciting insights. It was a thoroughly successful evening that left us wanting more!
The next Stammtisch will be in November at e3n in Mainz.
