Last week, the 17th Magento Rhein-Main meetup took place. We were expecting Ben Marks as our prominent guest. Ben traveled directly from the US after an internal appointment at Magento headquarters. After a 15-hour flight, he arrived at the meetup a little late.
Fabrizio Branca kindly stepped in with a talk on "high availability" and used a flip chart to clearly explain what such a hosting setup could look like in an Amazon cloud environment. Many thanks once again to the "returnee" for the spontaneous talk.

Because of the prominent guest, the meetup was very well attended. Since this was the first time the meetup had taken place at the new netz98 offices, quite a few people were very interested in an office tour.
After Fabrizio's talk, it was Ben's turn. He told us about news from Magento. Among other things, there is a tech lead who is currently trying to bring more stability to releases. Future beta versions are no longer supposed to be completely broken. Magento is currently hiring new developers to work through the GitHub issues. Overall, around 80% of the developers are currently busy working on platform topics. So we can hope for a new, more stable Magento 2 version. All this work falls under the slogan "Developer Experience".
At the end of the talk, people were allowed to ask Ben questions. There were several topics, such as the roadmap, release cycles, EE downloads, etc. Ben answered everything with a wink and a few digs at the marketing department.
Conclusion: the meetup was a lot of fun again. We would be delighted to see the rooms just as full next time.
