Why I will not buy Windows Vista...

Some time ago, I switched my computer entirely to Linux. If I need Windows (for work), I simply start my VMWare server, which runs a Windows 2000 Server with a developer license.

After Windows Vista came onto the market and I saw it on the notebook of my work colleague Andreas Demmer (who has since replaced it with openSUSE), I thought the system looked quite impressive, at least visually. Windows still has those annoying dialogs, but without that irritating stuff, the software probably would not be allowed to call itself Windows.

Things get interesting, though, when you look at the Windows Vista license. You will find that although you bought a valid license, you did not buy the product. Microsoft reserves the right simply to define restrictions on its use. Anyone who does not believe this should take a look at the website
http://badvista.fsf.org. It lists a few more interesting things about Vista.

In any case, I am sticking to my decision for now: Microsoft Windows Vista will not be bought!
